Nirmalagiri College, a minority institution under the Archdiocese of Thalassery, was established in the year 1964 to cater to the educational needs of the local population and the migrant Christian community in the north Malabar region of the state of Kerala in India, is now widely recognized as one of the most reputed centres of higher education in Kerala. The college is accredited by the NAAC with A++ grade and consistently ranked in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). The college is situated at near Kuthuparamba, 20 Km North - East of Thalassery railway station and alongside the Thalassery - Mysore inter-state highway and 15 Km away from Kannur International Airport.
The Department of chemistry is one of the prominent departments at Nirmalagiri college, and leads the way in academic excellence by setting a benchmark for other departments. The department is recognized as a Research Centre by Kannur University, and is funded by various agencies that includes DST, DBT, UGC, KSCSTE and ANRF (SERB). The department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Chemistry.
